Mark Shapiro :: Outside Executive Advisor

Mark has spent his career helping law firms and in-house law departments in the area of strategic management for more than 25 years.  First with McKinsey & Co. and now with Blaqwell, Mark has worked with both large and small firms in the area of professional and business development, organizational and operational excellence as well as financial operations.  At NexFirm, Mark brings his wealth of experience to assist in the adoption of best practices, as well as innovation of new services to address the special needs of our clientele.

David DePietto :: CEO and Co-Founder (blog)

David’s finance and investing background from the hedge fund business, along with his experience as a small business operator in the technology space made him a natural as a student of service firm operations.  Since the inception of NexFirm, David has been instrumental in the creation of the services and process.  Today he focuses his time on a constant pursuit of better customer experience, the creation of new services, as well as personal participation in new firm start up consultations and implementations.

Carol Fleming :: Controller

Carol brings more than a decade of accounting and finance experience from both large public accounting firms and internal corporate departments.  In addition, Carol holds an M.B.A. in Finance.  Her day to day responsibilities include the management of all of the financial, HR and benefits operations of NexFirm and its partner firms.

Jon Williams :: Outside Executive Advisor (blog)

Jon’s journey on the cutting edge of technology has led him to numerous organizations and environments, from big to small firms, across multiple industries and a variety of geographies around the world.  He is currently the chief technology officer at start-up Flat World Knowledge, as well as the founder of the New York CTO club and a mentor in Columbia University’s Executive Masters in Technology Management program.  As an advisor to NexFirm, Jon provides guidance on technology road map decisions and senior level staff planning in our technology practice.

Joe Amella :: Outside Executive Advisor

Joe has more than a quarter of a century of management experience in the staffing and professional services business, recently as the founder of Accretive Solutions, the largest privately held accounting and finance staffing company in the US.  Prior to that, Joe was President of CORESTAFF, a multi-billion dollar, publicly traded staffing company.  He is currently the Chairman for Black Letter Discovery, a litigation support service company.  Aside from providing sales and marketing development for NexFirm, Joe advises on multiple facets of the HR functions of our PEO practice.

Beth Anisman :: Outside Executive Advisor

Beth is an attorney who has held multiple COO level positions at large corporate institutions, most recently with Barclays Capital, arming her with a strong background in legal operations and a unique perspective on client needs.  Beth currently is the CEO of B&Co., a consultancy that services law firms and legal practices of all sizes and types.  Her participation in NexFirm has many facets, but is primarily geared toward operations, both internal and for our clients.

Larry Bortstein :: Co-Founder and Outside Executive Advisor

After almost a decade as in-house counsel for American Express and Lehman Brothers, Larry founded New York based Bortstein Legal Group, a law firm specializing in transactions relating to technology, outsourcing, data & digital content, and procurement.  As NexFirm’s first client, Larry’s focus is on the creation and refining of NexFirm’s process and services, and brings a client’s perspective to the operations team.
